Literacy is popularly understood as an ability to read, write and use numeracy in at least one method of writing. However, due the huge advances in technology, the definition of literacy is often expanded to include skills needed (e.g. interfacing with web browsers and word processing programs) when using computers and other digital technologies. This type of literacy is sometimes referred to as digital literacy.
