Many people play sports, and many more are sports fans. They watch sport on television and the internet and they have specific teams they support or individual sports stars they follow. There are however, many people who have no interest in sport. They have never really played a sport and they are not interested in following sport. So, what role does sport play in society?

Some people believe that sport has an important role in society. Others, however, feel that it is nothing more than a leisure activity for some people.
