Map: Frenton town

When writing an IELTS Part 1 report comparing two maps, you are going to need to use verbs that describe change. There are a lot of them and often the differences in meaning is quite small (e.g. 'convert' and 'renovate')

Below are some verbs (in the past tense) with their common prepositions that you can use when describing changes to a map. Use a dictionary to makes sure you understand the meaning of these verbs and use some of them in your report.

built, changed into, constructed, converted into, demolished, developed, extended, expanded, knocked-down, flattened, modernised, replaced with, redeveloped into, removed, renovated, relocated.
