Mangroves in Myanmar

The village that my family moved to when I was five was close to the coast, and there were many mangrove trees. I didn't really appreciate them that much as a kid, but in the last few years I have come to understand that these trees are very important because that have many ecological and enviromental benefits.

Mangroves are the trees, as in the picture above, that grow in murky coastal water.

Read the article about mangroves in Myanmar and answer the five questions with NO MORE than THREE WORDS from the text.

  1. What type of advantages do mangrove forests provide?

  2. More deforestation has occured in mangroves than in which other area?

  3. What was measured by the research from the National University of Singapore (NUS)?

  4. What type of farming might threaten mangrove trees in the next few years?

  5. What type of conservation plans should the government be creating and implementing?

When you're ready enter your answers in the test sheet below.
